On a recent Saturday in September, employees at WealthVest, a Bozeman-based financial services company, culminated a city-wide project to clean up local greenways, parks, trails and open spaces as part of National and World CleanUp Day. Bozeman served as one of six US media sites for this year’s CleanUp Day event, coordinated by WealthVest.
An initiative of Clean Trails, the CleanUp Day event is meant to showcase the cleanup efforts of local communities, while also spreading awareness of the negative environmental impacts of litter, trash and single-use plastic. The WealthVest team collected more than 220 pounds of trash across the city, in addition to other grassroots cleanup efforts happening in and around Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley.
“It was amazing to see the support from our team and local community for this campaign,” said Phil Katzman, WealthVest team leader. “We are lucky to live in such a beautiful region of the world and be part of a company that empowers its employees to help protect it.”
National and World CleanUp Day is one of the largest volunteer events in the world. Bozeman community members joined almost 2 million US volunteers and 21 million globally for the initiative, which takes place every third Saturday in September in thousands of participating communities across all 50 states, U.S. territories and in dozens of other countries.
WealthVest’s employees are committed to reducing waste and plastic pollution, improving wildlife habitats and preventing harm to animals and humans in the Gallatin Valley, Montana and beyond, Katzman said. In addition to this weekend’s cleanup project, the company plans to hold a bi-annual highway cleanup projects with the Montana Department of Transportation starting in 2023.
